Thermal Expansion
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
Thermal Expansion is a concept game created for the University of Waterloo's Winter 2025 game jam, made in 72 hours using the Godot game engine.
Pitch:
Piloting a mech in a grungy, dystopian setting, you will fight increasingly larger and stronger hordes of enemies - as you do so, though, your robotic shell will heat up rapidly and dangerously. Fortunately, you're not alone. A friend, controlling the nanobot in the central console display, is able to travel through your internal ducts, releasing heat and rerouting power at a breakneck pace to keep the mech from breaking down.
Reality:
Due to the time constraint, the core functionality of heat accumulation and dispersion was not completed during the jam, and there are currently no plans to keep actively developing the game. However, we hope you still enjoy the demo as much as we loved making it!
Controls:
- WASD + Space to pilot the mech
- Arrow keys to move the nanobot
